The Air India flight, operating as AI2379, was flying from Phuket, Thailand, to Delhi when it encountered a sudden pocket of severe turbulence during the cruise phase of the flight.

According to Air India, the aircraft experienced a brief but significant change in altitude, causing unrestrained passengers and cabin crew to be thrown around the cabin. Reports indicate the aircraft briefly lost approximately 300 feet in altitude before pilots regained stable flight.
